La Cultura de la Permanencia.

Para acabar el año me han llegado algunas reflexiones de E. F. Schumacher extraídas de su libro Lo Pequeño es Hermoso, un vigoroso alegato contra una sociedad distorsionada por el culto al crecimiento económico, ¿o debería de decir al falso progreso?

En un punto el autor apuesta por una orientación más humana de la ciencia y la tecnología, abriendo sus puertas a la sabiduría, evitando las concentraciones de poder y el deterioro del medio ambiente. Así promulga que la ciencia y tecnología debe desarrollar métodos y equipos que cumplan tres requisitos:

  • Que sean suficientemente baratos para estar al alcance de todo el mundo.
  • Que sean apropiados para ser utilizados a pequeña escala.
  • Que sean compatibles con la necesidad creativa del hombre.

Estos principios nacen de la no-violencia, de la búsqueda de la paz, y por supuesto se basan en una relación entre hombre y Naturaleza que garantiza la permanencia.

Origin of the Project

Our project is based on the vineyard with a somewhat idealistic raising and the recuperation of plots with plants of an advanced age; relying on artisanal craftsmanship, sustainability and environmentally friendly viticulture.

The vines, which are very old and of different varieties, the majority being plants of the Mencia variety, are located in an area with very specific characteristics, slope and orientation especially, because of which their frank composition results in a sometimes gritty nature. After years of implementation, the vineyard has been forced to adapt to conditions that has forged it into something unique and exceptional.Nacho Vendimia

Investigating with Feet in the Soil

In addition to our passion for Mencia, and our insane manner of interpreting it, the occasions are many in which we conduct various tests and experiments with what our land offers us. In the majority of our vineyards we find great diversity of varieties, among those found are: Merenzao, Godello, Dona Branca, Brancellao, Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera, Tempranillo… and some other varieties that we have not yet been able to recognize.

A Wine of the People

In El Bierzo many friends lend us a hand not only in the harvest but in other work as well. There is always someone with whom we joke with using this region’s vernacular. This is the case with Cachicán, which comes to be the foreman of the harvest crew, which usually has a somewhat negative condition among the harvesters, since it’s usually him that pushes them to achieve a greater profitability. El vino se hace solo

Reflexionando en un día de vendimia en el que la lluvia nos ha impedido acudir al viñedo para la recogida de uva, comenzamos a disponer de algunas consideraciones a la vista de las primeras fermentaciones ya concluidas. Orgullosos y sorprendidos, afirmamos que ya disponemos de los primeros vinos terminados de la añada 2014, y que las fermentaciones han transcurrido con una velocidad, ritmo y homogeneidad que de veras han resultado más que sorprendentes: sin subidas de temperatura notables, sin apenas necesidad de remontados ni bazuqueos excesivos, ni de regulaciones extraordinarias de temperaturas, en definitiva, sin sobresaltos que siempre hacen pensar al elaborador y que le invitan a intervenir en exceso en este proceso mágico que es la ‘transformación del mosto en vino’.N13_5193
