Harvest Time
We have celebrated our Bierzo Day (September, 8th) when People honor La Virgen de la Encina. It use to be common in Spain that the local party day is when the nature gives them his products; in this case: grapes, peppers, apples, tometoes, pears,…
Mix between supersticion, credence and thanks for the harvest.
I proudly have some of the elder vineyards all over Bierzo, and it is a great tradition years ago, that the people used to have some fruit trees in his ground. There different time for the maduration in each crop. It is not a monetary matter, it is a life style vineyard, and these days I spend some time on them, because I am controlling the grapes; sometimes when I visit the vineyard I watch the appletrees, peartrees, blackberries,… they use to mature before grape.
This is my harvest today. Some apples and pears. They seem to be not completely matured, but it is a nice time to harvest in order to finish their maturation later.
Some days in my warehouse and I will enjoy then in the grapes harvest time.
I think I am going to begin in September, 13th. Fruit Day.
